In mid-November, George Washington University held a special ceremony formally inaugurating Thomas J. LeBlanc as its 17th president. In accordance with tradition, LeBlanc was given the President’s Medallion as a symbolic gesture commemorating his new position as the school’s head.
The new president actually began his term on August 1, 2017, after being appointed to the role by the school’s board of trustees the preceding January. In his comments, LeBlanc spoke about the importance of leadership, emphasizing the tenets of active scholarship, a comprehensive approach to education, a global focus, and the pursuit of excellence.
